Organization: SUSVAR
Group Type: Methods Oriented
Activities
This group will study the interactions in the triangle: cereal varieties – soil – root-associated microorganisms. Within this framework, two main questions will be addressed: (i) How do cereal genotypes absorb and use nutrients efficiently under low-input conditions? (ii) What role do cereal - associated microbes (bacteria, mycorrhiza etc.) play to enhance nutrient acquisition and control pathogens, thus contributing to yield stability? These activities will lead to improved breeding methods for the production of cereal varieties particularly adapted to low-input and organic production systems.
